Privacy policy
Last updated November 4, 2026
Pointless lets you connect your Amazon account, see what your orders say about you, and decide what brands get to see. This page explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how to delete it. "Pointless", "we" and "us" mean Pointless.
What we collect
- Your Amazon orders, when you connect: order dates, products, brands, prices, categories, subscriptions and returns.
- Contact details: the email you sign in to Amazon with (or another one you give us), and your mobile number if you sign up for texts.
- Your choices: what you hid, who an item was for, notes you add, your settings, how you heard about us and which other stores you'd like to connect, if you tell us.
- How you use the site: pages viewed and buttons tapped, with no name, email or phone attached.
Bank and card connections
Bank linking is not available right now. A bank linked earlier is paused: we do not read it, show it, or count it in any report. Delete everything with Start over on your Privacy page.
What we never keep
- Your Amazon password. It goes to Amazon over a secure session and is not saved or logged.
- Your Amazon session. It closes when the read is done. To refresh, you sign in again.
How we use it
- To show you your own orders, brands, routines and spending.
- To find offers from brands you already buy.
- To give brands counts across many shoppers (see below).
- To send you the emails and texts you asked for.
- To fix problems and keep the service secure.
What brands see
Brands see counts across groups of at least three shoppers, built only from what you left visible. Brands never see your name, email, address, phone number, the orders you hid, or sensitive categories (such as health and personal care) unless you choose to share them. Brands also never see items in private areas (pregnancy and fertility, sexual wellness, medication and conditions, mental health, and gender and identity). You can open "See what a brand sees" on your Privacy page at any time.
Text messages
If you sign up for texts, we send messages about your Amazon spending and your account, usually once a week. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop at any time, or HELP for help. Signing up is never a condition of using Pointless or getting an offer.
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or text opt-in with anyone for their marketing. Mobile information is shared only with the provider that delivers our texts (Twilio).
Who we share data with
We don't sell your personal information. We use these providers to run Pointless, and each only gets what its job needs:
- Oracle Cloud and Supabase: hosting and storage, encrypted.
- A residential network provider: carries the Amazon sign-in so it comes from your state.
- Plaid: bank connections made before bank linking was paused.
- Twilio: text and WhatsApp messages. Resend: email.
- Slack and Cloudflare: our team's internal tools. While you connect, our team sees your sign-in email and how far the connect got, so we can help if it gets stuck.
- PostHog, Logfire and Sentry: usage counts and error logs, with emails and phone numbers removed.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
Your choices
- Hide any order, item or category. Brands stop seeing it right away.
- Which other stores you'd like to connect, if you tell us.
- Download your data from your Privacy page.
- Delete everything with "Start over" on your Privacy page, or email us. Your data leaves every brand's counts. Encrypted backups roll off within about two weeks.
Security
Data is encrypted in storage and in transit. Only a small team can reach the servers. How we keep your data safe.
Children
Pointless is for people 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. For big changes we'll tell you by email first.
